Bebo Application Platform Now Open to All Developers

January 11, 2008

BeboAlmost a month ago, the social networking website Bebo announced its own application platform. When first launched, the platform was only made available to a select group of companies and individuals, giving them what many disappointed developers considered an unfair head start on the competition. Today that changes, as Bebo’s application platform is now available to all third party developers.

Similar to the setup of the Facebook Platform, Bebo’s platform offers a 3-part process for getting started: download the developer API; install the Bebo Developer application (similar to the Facebook Developer application); and start coding.

Bebo Developers Quick Start

Because the Bebo Platform is based upon the Facebook architecture, current Facebook developers will likely have little difficult in comprehending many of its concepts, easing the transition into the new platform. Also fortunate is the thoroughness with which the official documentation covers the topics of Social Network Markup Language (SNML, synonymous of FBML), Social Network Query Language (SQL, as per FQL), and Social Network API (SNAPI).
