Free Web Hosting for Facebook Applications
November 13, 2007
With the recent growth of and interest in Facebook applications, some Web hosting providers have begun to offer free hosting for Facebook applications. Although some developers have been weary of such opportunities, curious as to what the “catch” could be, others have been reporting positively about their experiences with such services, stating that the only catch is that the provider hopes to convert the trial user into a profitable paying user.
Disregarding the positive and negative standpoints of individual developers, the following is a compilation of free Web hosting opportunities that have been discovered across the Web. If you find any that have been left out, please contact us.

Got something to say?

This is great news as it really helps developers focus their efforts on their applications then to determine where to host them. It also is proof to the common claim that web hosting is a commodity (or is slowly turning out to be).
If you look at the offerings (Joyent and Jumpline specifically), VDS and VPS solutions seem to be more and more popular as web hosting options and are slowly rendering the common “shared hosting” plan obsolete as time passes.
for Joyent.com the OS is SUN Solaris
Thank you for the information, I’ve updated the article accordingly.
